The Sukhoi Su-27, known by the NATO codename “Flanker”, is one of the most advanced and powerful fighter jets in Russian military aviation and has been a central element in various air forces around the world since its introduction in the 1980s. Designed primarily as an air superiority aircraft, the Su-27 was developed to directly compete with advanced American fighters like the F-15 Eagle.

The cost of a Su-27 can vary considerably depending on various factors, including the specific model, avionics package, included armaments, and applied upgrades. However, estimates suggest that the price of a Su-27 can range from approximately $30 million to $40 million per unit for newer, well-equipped models.
